Marriott Vienna
Since we had no travel plans for the beginning of the year (at that time), we decide to take a weekend to visit my friends in Vienna.
My friend from Berkeley College in NYC, Danny and his wife lives in Vienna and I really like to city so of course I want to show Jäger this place.
I’ve been alot in Vienna a couple of years back and stayed at many hotels, but for this long weekend I decided on Marriott Vienna. I chosed this hotel because I stayed here before and really like their lobby bar. On top of that they have a SPA and the location is great for sightseeing in Vienna. There is a hop-on hop-off bus-stop right outside the door and it is about 5-10 minutes walk to the Stephan Cathedral.
They also had a great offer for Marriott members paying with VISA car, which included breakfast. It was actuallt alot cheaper than hotels.com and included breakfast. If you are a Marriott member you also get free wifi (although my opinion this should always be free at 4 star hotels…)
The hotel is nice and have all the amenities one can need for a city weekend.m, such as SPA, great hotel bar and a good breakfast buffet
The breakfast buffe is offered 6:30-10:30 and has all items on a breakfast buffet one can want. It’s big and a plus for the sparkling wine and egg station
The check-in staff was friendly and very helpful. The first night something in the AC made alot of noise which made it impossible to sleep. The following morning they upgraded us to another room without any hazzle
The Sportsbar Champions which is on the corner of the hotel is a great sportsbar if you want to have some bar food and watch sports. If you want to watch some popular game you’d better make reservation, it is very popular.
All in all this hotel is a good choice for a weekend in Vienna. It has all the amenities one need and the location is great. It is clean and offer the Marriott standard one want, but it lacks a little in the vienese charm.
Review Summary:
Rooms: 4/5
We stayed in Delux Room with king bed. The room was light, spacious and clean, but nothing special
Service: 5/5
Staff and service was outstanding and very helpful. The AC in our room was making horrible noise the first night so we actually couldn’t sleep, but they upgraded us to another room in the morning.
Bed: 5/5
Very comfortable with great pillows
Amenities: 3/5
The gym and SPA area looked nicer on the pictures. The area is quite small for such big hotel and get quickly crowded. We went on Friday afternoon and there were no chairs or place to sit availaible. The Saunas were nice (a dry one, a infra red and a steam one), but again to crowded. The atmosphere was not very SPA-isch
The hotel lobby bar is great and have a live band playing. The bar is open until 1 am and serves quite nice cocktails. The waiters could work on their hospitality a bit.
Price: $$$$
With the Marriott membership we paid 176 EUR Including breakfast per night in mid January.
