Centara Grand at CentralWorld
So since my favorite hotel in Bangkok closed down for renovation the search for a new home was the challenge on this trip. It was also Jäger’s first trip to Thailand, so naturally I wanted to spoil him with a good hotel.
Since we only had two nights to start with in Bangkok location would be the key. I wanted to see a movie on the Enigma cinema (check the review later) and also I wanted to be close to the Sky train so we could move around easily. A pool and a nice roof-top was also something that was important. I ended up booking Centara Grand at Central world.
We stayed in World Club Deluxe room with king size bed. With the club room you get access to the club lounge where you can have breakfast and maybe best of all cocktail hours (two hours of free drinks and snacks (!!)).
The hotel had a nice pool area with great food and drinks. The gym looked really nice, however we did not have time to check it out (jet lag got the best of us). A trip to the roof-top bar Red Sky is a must. The drinks and the views were great! Since we were in Bangkok during rain season (also low season for tourist) we had all the space in the world, but I imagine this roof-top being swamped during high-season.
The breakfast buffe was good. Since we hade the more luxurious version in the club lounge some items were a la carté orders, but it came quickly.
The location of the hotel was everything I wanted. Walking distance to Siam Paragon (for the cinema although we ended up going late since there were no movie showing that we wanted to see the first time around). We ended up mostly hanging out in the hotel and resting, but the room was spacious and comfortable so we didn’t need to go anywhere.
