Chateau Monfort

For Jäger’s birthday in December I decided to surprise him with a trip to Milan to go La Scala and see the opera Attila. I wanted to get a romantic hotel close to the opera and found this outstanding hotel; Chateau Monfort!

We flew in for only two nights arriving very late on Monday night and leaving super early on the Wednesday morning. The stay way perfect from arrival to departure and I would love to go here whenever I go to Milan.
We arrived around 11 pm (23:00) and after a less than comfortable transfer from Malpensa Airport we were very happy to be greeted by the friendly staff. We had also requested a bottle of Prosecco in the room at arrival since it was Jäger’s birthday. The hotel staff outdid themselves here and treated us with half a bottle of complimentary bubbles AND a birthday cake, along with a personal note. Very nice! We ordered room service and went to bed.

Day 2 was dedicated to the opera, so we started the Day with a huge great breakfast, then spent the whole day just relaxing in the SPA at the hotel.

Because the Opera at La Scala started at 20:00 (8:00 PM), we ended up sort of in the middle for what is customary for dinner in Italy. No fancier restaurants had open at 17-18:00 when we needed dinner. The Opera also ended 23:00 (11:00 PM), which meant that all resturants had closed by the time we were done. The amazing hotel however served us a lighter dinner which was delicious, and when we came back we still made the last call on room service.

  • Big, a little to hard for my taste, also the double bed came apart splitting in the middle (there was no king sized madrass holding the beds together).

  • Full gym, great SPA, Nice breakfast.

• Extra points for outstanding things:

  • 1p Extra point for service (packing us breakfast boxes)

  • 1p extra point for hospitality, the staff was very helpful and friendly

• Tips and tricks: If you have to leave early in the morning they will pack you a breakfast box to go! Also stay during weekdays and use the SPA, we were totally alone.

  Total 20/20 points which means I strongly recommed this hotel !
